The Bio – Excellence award instituted by the department of IT-BT & ST, Govt. of Karnataka was presented today at Bangalore INDIA BIO 2010, India's premier Biotechnology event. The award with the specific objectives of encouraging and recognizing the achievements of companies in the biotech sector were given to Biocon for excellence in the Healthcare sector, Metahelix Life Sciences for excellence in theAgribiotech sector, Advanced Enzymes in the Industrial Biotech sector and Jubiliant Biosys in the Biotech Services sector.
The awards were presented by Shri. Ashok Kumar C Manoli, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government, Dept. of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, Prof. P Balram – Director , Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma.
The Bio Exhibition Awards were also presented to Best Exhibiors in the following categories
Best Exhibitor award went to Eppendorf, BioAge Equipment and Merck Specialties.
Best Bio Content and Information was given to Biozeen, Strand Life Sciences and ABLE – SIGAB.
Best Design & Innovation was given to the German Pavillion,EBTC (Europen Bio Technology Center) and Waters India.
